The Girdle was a waist belt from Ares, the god of war and son of Hera and Zeus the queen and King of the gods. The belt signified her authority as a queen of the Amazons. The Amazons were a warrior race of women’s who lived by them self, far away from any man because, it was in their culture to be separated from men. The amazons were a very popular not just because of their unknown culture but because of they were also the descended of Ares. They met sometimes with men of other nations to create future generations, but if they ever gave birth to children then they kept only girls raising them to take the next step in the Amazon generation, killing the boys.

The Journey to the sacred land of the Amazons

Hercules friends and his nephew Iolaus realized that their friend couldn’t fight against the whole Amazon army alone, so they stood up as friends are supposed to do, being there when you need friends, they joined him in his quest and set sail in a single ship to the land of the Amazons. After a long journey they reached the land and docked at the harbor. When Hercules and his friends got off the boat, Hippolyta the queen of the Amazons came down to visit them. She asked Hercules why they came. Hercules told her why and she promised to give him the belt. Hera, the queen of the gods and stepmother to Hercules and his enemy, couldn't let him go away just that easy. She disguised as an Amazon warrior and went up and down to the army telling each woman that the strangers who had arrived were going to carry off the queen. So the Amazons put on their armor and charged on horses to their ship. When Hercules saw that they were ready for battle then he knew he was under attack. He drew his sword and killed Hippolyte Then he took the belt of her dead corpes and Hercules and his friends fought the Amazon in a great legendary battle.
